In 2018, Heath Charnock Parish Council successfully combined funding from various sources to design and construct the Parish Gateway Stone at Skew Bridge. It was paid for by a combination of two grants from Chorley Council’s Neighbourhood Priority Fund and a Small Grant; Lancashire County Council’s Champions Grant; and these were matched by monies which the Parish Council has saved annually for the last four years from its own revenue budget. The Gateway Stone was unveiled on 11 November 2018 to mark the centenary of the end of World War 1.
On 10 November 2019, a full list was unveiled of the men from the Parish who had lost their lives due to involvement in either World War 1 or 2. Their names were read out by John Garwood and Stuart Clewlow, two local military historians, who had carried out this research on behalf of the Parish Council. These names are as listed.
