March 3 – Soviet Russia concludes a peace settlement with Germany and her allies.
March 23 – 70 aircraft involved in an air battle over the Somme battlefield.
March 28 – German offensive halted.
April 22 – The Allies raid the German held harbours of Ostend and Zebrugge.
May 10 – A second raid on Ostend seals the harbour entrance, denying it to the Germans.
May 19 – The largest, and last, German air raid is launched on London with 33 aircraft taking part. 49 civilians are killed and 177 are wounded.
October 4 – A German and Austrian peace proposal is sent to President Wilson of the USA.
October 17 and 18th – Lille and Douai are liberated and the Belgians regain Ostend and Zebrugge, liberating the whole of the channel coast.
October 29 – German sailors in the High Seas Fleet, mutiny and refuse to engage the British.
October 30 – Turkey signs an armistice with the Allies.
November 3 – Austria-Hungary signs an armistice with the Allies.
November 8 – Armistice negotiations begin with Germany.
November 9 – Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany abdicates and flees to Holland.
November 11 – The armistice is signed at 5.00am, to come into force at 11.00am
November 14 – German East African forces surrender.
November 21 – German fleet, consisting of 9 battleships, 5 battle-cruisers, 7 cruisers, and 49 destroyers, arrives off Rosyth to surrender. 39 U-boats surrender off Harwich.
December 12 – British forces cross the Rhine to occupy Cologne.
