The Council consists of a Chairman and six Councillors. Elections for these positions are held every four years. The last election was in May 2022.
The Parish Council receives a precept from Chorley Council to meet the operating costs associated with delivering services to the community. Councillors do not receive any allowances or expenses.
The Council is supported by the Clerk to the Parish Council.
The Parish Council is invited to comment on all planning applications applicable to Heath Charnock. However, any decision rests with Chorley Council or, in certain cases, Lancashire County Council. Most planning applications are determined by the planning staff under delegated powers. Major applications will go before Chorley Council’s Development Control Committee where the Parish Council may make representation.
The council’s comments on planning applications are recorded in the minutes of the council meetings and can also be viewed on Chorley Council Planning website.
